Relative Date Filters

Relative date filters allow you to specify date ranges that are relative to the day in which the filter is being applied. For instance, if you want to show the data for the first quarter of 2015, you can use fixed a Fixed Date Filter between 1/1/2015 and 3/31/2015. But if you want it to show data for the first quarter of the current year (i.e. first quarter of 2015 while still in 2015, but first quarter of 2016 once 2016 arrives).

Relative Date Filters are very powerful and allow you to specify date ranges like “last month” or “first quarter of this year”.

Relative Date Filters are available in the Question Filters page, Dashlets Filters page, and in Scorecard Columns pages.

The Relative Dates controls have four input fields and two output fields.

You have to select the period length (both the amount and the type – say “5” and “Days”), and the relative date of the start of the period (both the amount and the type – say “10” and “Days ago”). Once all four selections are made, the control will tell you what are the start and end dates that correspond to that period, relative to today. When you come back to the control at a different day, the start and end dates will be the ones relative to that day.

The following period types are available: Days, Weeks, Months, Quarters, and Years.

Here are some examples, relative to Dec 4, 2015:
